Manama, likewise Al Manamah, city in northeastern Bahrain, capital of the nation, on the northeastern shore of Bahrain Island, in the Persian Gulf, close to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The port created and the city started to be modernized during the 1950s and 1960s, because of continues from the clearance of oil.
